Ten years on...

pretty tired actually, lol.
Was talking to Gary Flanagan - I reminded him how it was all his fault...
When I edited Lexicon Magazine I got a tpae from him, with some pretty thin tribute songs to ABC. But he also had a tape of his won stuff, much better- raw, real, the soul of early electropop. I asked him if I could press up some CDrs and wallah, I was a record industry mogul.

Flash forward about nine year and Bobby Clark, another person from early on in the "scene," asked if he could remix Ninthwae releases for a remix album and he suggested it be a celebration of ten year- so here we are.

Wow.

Thanks -to - Todd L, Todd D, Mark N, Bobby, Gary, Aidan, Sean (and all the ESH guys), Sean, Marc, Sheryl, Seth, Kasson, Martyn/Glenn/Ian, Martin F, Brian, Jamie, Ric(John)& Jenny, Carl O, David & Patrick, the folsk at Momento Materia, Bob Frank, Bobby Shaw, Rey, Anna, Petr, Andrew, Karl & Jen ;-p, Veronica, Hanimh, Aaron, Randall, and lots of people  I have forgotten (they'll be in the follow up post!)

MGMT

I was a huge fan of "Time to Pretend" and "Electric Feel" I was nervous about the band's new Psychadelic sound. But I am also a big fan of Love, Dukes of Straosphere and othere such groovy 60's style music (yeah, I know the Dukes were not the 60s). I downloaded the new MGMT today from eMusic and wow! totally into it. It is not "electronic" in any real way - but it is some pretty awesome pop music. No "singles" really, ntohing like "Time to Pretend" but if you like a little 60s and 70s thrown into your music (I am looking at you fans of Swedish pop) then you owe it to yourself to at least click on the amazon link and listen to the 30 second clips.

Best album of 2010 (as of 4/19/10!)

RIP Malcom McLaren

The connections left behind are endless
Sex pistols to Adam Ant to Bow Wow Wow to his work with Trevor Horn and Anne Dudley that led to the Art of Noise
A huge chunk of British pop just left the building
