OK, so she kinda oversings it, and she'll have to change things up a bit eventually, but for now I am loving everything I hear. Plus, turns out this was co-writtne by the guy from Semisonic (Closing Time).
Enjoy this little slice of non-synthpop
PS- Why do we have to wait three whole months to buy the album? This isn't 1993, it'll be all over otrrent by Dec 22, forget Feb 22.....
Not sure what is up with me today, but gosh durnit, I kinda like this song. Fast forward to about 44 seconds to ge tthrough the ENDLESS begining and hear the actual song- which reminds me a the old days of EBM, in the best way possible.
From their debut 7" You can download the whole thing for free at soundcloud.
From time to time I offer up weird stuff, and this is not directly synthpop, but there is something really neat about this, imho.
Give it a minute to sink in-
Yeah, that's what I said - Red box, wtf? I just found out a few years ago they released a follow up toThe Circle and the Square and now they are relasing a third album, some 20 years later.
Very strange. Can not wait ot hear it. Aamzon.co.uk has it for pre order. It's Called Plenty (Limited Double Cd) by the way :-)
Of course this will get missed by the very 80s revival going on what with non other than the Human League announcing a new single (Night People) and album (Credo).
Plus- have you heard the new OMD? Not bad really - a bit too much of the early era sound (to me it sound like they are cashing in on nostalgia, but hey, it works for me!)
Of course you aren't a REAL OMD fan unless you splash out $125 bucks for this monster box set. I guess
Please help us fix the charts spread the word about Synthetic Dance Music vol 2.
We want to see how far up the amazon chart we can drive the album. Yesterday about a half a dozen friends and I bought copies and got the title to #1408.
Today I would like to hit higher heights.
Please use the link below to buy a digital copy of the album , then zip me an email to let me know and I Will zip you via paypal the $5.99 you spent on the album. I can only do the first 50 people so if it is later in the day check with me. Since we want to have a big impact please only do this if you can buy it by midnight tonight, Sept 9 2010.
If you an Arthur C Clarke fan this video is awesome/depressing. It is a "trailer" made by a sound design student based on images created by a film student for a film for "Rendezvous with Rama" a movie that probably will never be, but would be pretty cool huh?
Someone told me this was a disco Editors or Block Party[edit- oh, derrrrr - he's the lead singer!]. Its slightly more amazing than that really.
website - http://iamkele.com/
then- Maluca
Pure electro bliss - she's on the 8 Bit Boy and Major Lazer's label, so you know its hot shut! [edit - oh derrrr, I already posted this]
Brand new Release from a brand new band on Ninthwave (we're not just about our history!) is Isotopes of Neon. If you like MGMT (or perhaps Space March )I bet you will like Isotopes of Neon.
Was talking to Gary Flanagan - I reminded him how it was all his fault...
When I edited Lexicon Magazine I got a tpae from him, with some pretty thin tribute songs to ABC. But he also had a tape of his won stuff, much better- raw, real, the soul of early electropop. I asked him if I could press up some CDrs and wallah, I was a record industry mogul.
Flash forward about nine year and Bobby Clark, another person from early on in the "scene," asked if he could remix Ninthwae releases for a remix album and he suggested it be a celebration of ten year- so here we are.
Wow.
Thanks -to - Todd L, Todd D, Mark N, Bobby, Gary, Aidan, Sean (and all the ESH guys), Sean, Marc, Sheryl, Seth, Kasson, Martyn/Glenn/Ian, Martin F, Brian, Jamie, Ric(John)& Jenny, Carl O, David & Patrick, the folsk at Momento Materia, Bob Frank, Bobby Shaw, Rey, Anna, Petr, Andrew, Karl & Jen ;-p, Veronica, Hanimh, Aaron, Randall, and lots of people I have forgotten (they'll be in the follow up post!)
I was a huge fan of "Time to Pretend" and "Electric Feel" I was nervous about the band's new Psychadelic sound. But I am also a big fan of Love, Dukes of Straosphere and othere such groovy 60's style music (yeah, I know the Dukes were not the 60s). I downloaded the new MGMT today from eMusic and wow! totally into it. It is not "electronic" in any real way - but it is some pretty awesome pop music. No "singles" really, ntohing like "Time to Pretend" but if you like a little 60s and 70s thrown into your music (I am looking at you fans of Swedish pop) then you owe it to yourself to at least click on the amazon link and listen to the 30 second clips.
The connections left behind are endless Sex pistols to Adam Ant to Bow Wow Wow to his work with Trevor Horn and Anne Dudley that led to the Art of Noise A huge chunk of British pop just left the building
If you are or you know a bedsit musician (per perhaps the real live kind lol!) listen up- Ninthwave Records is putting together a dance/club music digital release. We split all reevnue 50/50 with the artists. If you have a track please let us know via email info@ninthwaverecords.com
Please do not send u the track, use yousendit or direct us to myspace or soundcloud etc.
Not sure how this week turned into "RNB Womean Who Really Go Way Beyond That Narrow Label" but hey, whatever (I am saving the Erika Badau video for friday people!) Monae is new wave anyway, check out her EP from last year. Now she seems to be moving into Stax terriroty. Tasty
There is something about Kelis. Forget "Milshake" - go back and listen to "Caught Out There" for a really cool , raw song. Now she is back with a very nifty slice of electro - I love it
Hi Cotton & Gin, it turns out, are #26 on the Ourstage Electronica chart. They'd like to be #1 and possibly win $5000 (if they win the judge battle thing- not sure how that works). They signed up as Patine Niore (for some reason, not as Cotton & Gin) so... Look, please just go listen, vote as you see fit (although thumbs up with the little heart would be cool!) http://www.ourstage.com/tracks/RCRRUQIYISEX-anse-la-raye-carnival-mix
